Porter County Air Duct Cleaning Services
In order to maximize the quality of the air inside of your home, your air ducts should be cleaned at least once every three years. Every home has an HVAC system and therefore has ducts running through it. Contaminants like dust, dirt, pollen, and pet dander can build up inside of the ducts and become a reason the air inside your house might seem a bit stuffy. Furthermore, pollen could pose as an inconvenience for anyone with seasonal allergies.
"My job here is to run the commercial and residential air duct crews," Aaron Lawson, the project manager of SERVPRO of Laporte and Porter Counties, explains. "That could entail businesses, apartments, homes, offices, hospitals, anything under the sun...they all have air ducts, and they all need to be cleaned." In some spaces, especially a hospital, air quality is essential as the building is a space to take care of the injured and sick.
Furthermore, a building such as a library or a book store also needs to have superior air quality inside. Having contaminated fly around a space filled with books is not an ideal environment. Also, and most importantly, having higher air quality in your own home means being more comfortable. Should your home suffer any kind of damage, it also becomes essential to clean the air ducts, as the damage can spread through ventilation as well. Air duct cleaning usually involves equipment such as air whips, air blasters, and other devices made for scrubbing.
Lawson explains, "whether it's water, fire, mold...all of those things can be affected." If a fire occurs inside of your residence, the smoke may billow and travel into the HVAC system. However, even without damage-based emergencies, Lawson explains how often you should think about air duct cleaning. It can "...be done every couple of years. It could be as far back as every five to seven years. It just depends on the type of wear on the system."
